Alzheimer's is a horrible disease that not only brings your life to a very sad end, It strips away the very person you are while it does it. So, me and my amazing friend Helen are dragging ourselves up Ben Nevis with the Alzheimer's Society to raise what we can to beat this debilitating disease.

My beautiful Nana fought her final days with Alzheimer's. I visited her in her care home in York and my last memory of her is her silently crying in her chair because she was embarrassed I'd seen her needing to use a sippy cup to drink her tea. No person should ever feel like this.

This incredible lady had for so many years been the absolute role model of compassion, care, positivity and calm reflectiveness. I never heard a cross word from her and in whatever dark moment I may have been in, her words were there to mend me. 

If I'm ever half the person she was, I'll be happy.
