Running London Landmarks Half Marathon for theMovement

Elena Lown is raising money for theMOVEMENT

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 · 12 April 2026 ·

Exercise is a fundamental human right and has many benefits. For women experiencing multiple disadvantages, however, there are many barriers to exercise, including the extensive impact of trauma. theMOVEMENT breaks down these barriers, providing trauma informed exercise opportunities across London.

Story

If you told me 6 years ago that I would be voluntarily committing to run in front of other people then I would have laughed... a lot.

However, doing virtual PT sessions with Fi was one of the highlights of lockdown and encouraged me to start on a couch to 5k for the first time. Of course not telling anyone about it, in case it all went wrong! Since then, and driven by a competitive urge to vanquish my running nemesis/inspiration/father, I have gone on to even almost enjoy running.

Not everyone has the opportunities to access this in the way I did. I am choosing to run this to hopefully make a little change by supporting Fi and the incredible work of theMovement.

Exercise is a fundamental human right and has a vast number of benefits. For women who have experienced multiple disadvantages, however, there are many barriers to exercise, including safety, lack of finances, confidence and the extensive impact of trauma. theMOVEMENT aims to break down these barriers and enable every woman the freedom to exercise.
