Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This is our first Christmas as Mums, and as such it has really made us aware of what is important, particularly at this time of year. We want to raise money for other families in Northern Ireland  who are not as lucky as we are. Whilst we are enjoying the build up to Christmas with our babies, there are families being turned away from Foodbanks for basic items such as nappies and babywipes. So we have decided that we should dust down their prams, and spread a little Christmas magic, by dressing ourselves as Santa and them as Elves and jogging, running or walking 1 mile on the 14th of December at Mary Peters Track, our aim is to have some fun whilst raising some much needed funds for an incredibly worthy cause.

On a more serious note there are currently over 18,000 families who are homeless, and amongst other community services, Depaul have  2 homeless family hostels, Cloverhill on the Stewartstown Road and Mater Dei on the Antrim Road that help the most vulnerable families. Families are referred to them through the Housing Executive and on arrival, stay in self-contained flats giving them the privacy they need and keeping them together as a family unit. Each family has a dedicated key worker who, together with the family, identify the areas of need for them. A support plan can cover many areas but the focus is always to get the family moved to permanent accommodation of their choice as quickly as is possible. The Hostels offer families the time and space to address the issues that led to their homelessness. Depaul’s dedicated child support worker works with the children who are struggling to come to terms with great upheaval that homelessness has in their lives. Depaul cannot provide these vital services to families in need without your support.

All funds raised will go directly to these two hostels. Please give what you can. Along with the donations we are also collecting parcels, for the Foodbank and presents for children. More details can be found on our Facebook page
