Story

For the fourth year, PCC RBT will be fundraising for Elf day and will join people across the UK to dress up as elves to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society.

In the UK, around 1 in 11 people over the age of 65 are living with a dementia diagnosis. This means many members of our community—and those supported by RBT—are directly affected. Dementia touches countless lives, whether through personal experience, caring for a loved one, or providing professional support.

We’ve seen first-hand the vital role the Alzheimer’s Society plays in offering guidance, comfort, and practical help to those living with dementia and their families. Their work makes a real difference, and that’s why we’re committed to giving back and supporting their cause. Until the day a cure is found, we will support the Alzheimer's society to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community safely and happily without fear or prejudice.

The team will be dressed as festive elves, hosting a tombola, a raffle (with some fabulous prizes, including multiple restaurant vouchers, hampers, and a whole host more) a bake sale and a variety of fun games! Last time we hosted Elf Day, we raised just over £1,300 and this year we are striving to raise £1,500!!

£5 can provide 3 uses of the Dementia Directory which shows available services in the local area, so those in need of support can access the best support.

£500 could support 11 families with a Dementia Adviser providing face-to face support for families facing complex challenges. Whether they’re supporting someone living with dementia, a carer, or an entire family, this support is invaluable when it comes to navigating the maze of dementia, especially during the holidays. £1000 could provide round-the-clock support for a week through the Dementia Support Forum. Talking about dementia and the challenges it poses can be difficult, even when we’re reimagining what Christmas looks like with dementia. But sharing with people who understand the realities of dementia can make a huge difference in how people feel, and how they cope. Thankfully, the Dementia Support Forum online community is a place of understanding and compassion, where people can go 24/7.

We really hope everyone gets behind the team to support us and raise as much money as we can for such a worthy cause, and have some fun and spread some Christmas cheer along the way!
