SO... from the 13-20th of April I will be hitch-hiking from Sheffield to Krakow with the beautiful Emily Harrop....an interesting task... 2000km of bumming it to be precise! I'm committed to raising some money for the Sheffield RAG's very worthy Charities (details below)

Charities info:

SALVE International - Works with street children in Jina, Uganda. They not only give them somewhere to stay but also provide an education to give the kids a chance to improve their lives. SALVE works with the community as well, for example encouraging trade. They are a small charity so any donations will help a lot. They recently sent us a video thanking us for raising money for them, and you can see it by clicking on the videos tab on the left!

Operation Florian - Provides Firefighters and firefighting equipment to countries that need it. After the equipment in Croatia and Bosnia was destroyed by war, Operation Florian was set up to help. This year, Shefield RAG wants to buy them a fire engine. The charity is run entirely by volunteers, so all donations will go straight to where it's needed.

Sheffield User Survivor Trainers (SUST) - Runs courses for people suffering from mental health problems such as depression. People taking the courses can become trainers on the courses themselves, meaning they can progress even after completing the course.

Doncaster Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service - Offers free counselling to people of either gender who have experienced sexual abuse. It gives these people someone they can talk to when they feel they can't talk to friends or family They are looking to employ a full time member of  staff, and Sheffield RAG hopes to contribute to this.

These are the first charities to be confirmed, however there will be a few more charities added to the list of those we are fund-raising for closer to the time of the event. I would very grateful for donations from all you beautiful people, as these are very worthy causes indeed.
