Story
In August 2022 we had to say goodbye to my fantastic dad following a brave and well fought battle with pancreatic cancer. I miss dad every single day. One of our joint loves was adventures and walking ... although when I convinced him to do the 3 peaks with me (after we had shared our other joint love of red wine) one evening, this joint enjoyment of the outdoors potentially faltered a little. But we laughed about it when the aching muscles, cuts and bruises recovered!
Dad was part of the police family and was proud of his career which saw him retire as DCI with two commendations. He was also very aware of the need for the Police Treatment provision and its huge importance. For this reason I'm doing the big step challenge for PTC in his memory. Family and friends will be joining me in some of my step! It incorporates things important to him and myself and ultimately will get me out walking again..good for the physical and mental health which have been neglected somewhat since losing dad. I think he'd approve!
The Police Treatment Centres provide physiotherapy and psychological wellbeing support to thousands of Serving and Retired Police Officers each year. The Big Step Challenge aims to raise vital funds to ensure the PTC can continue its essential work. Not only this, but the challenge is promoting the importance of daily movement, getting those steps in, heart rates up and improving mental wellbeing!
