I was first made aware of the need for more research into cancer treatment at a young age, when my great aunt passed away due to a brain tumour. Following this, in 2010, my best friend of 10 years' mother passed away after a long battle with the disease. 

These tragic losses could have been prevented. It's not all doom and gloom, and it doesn't have to be. One of my best friends, Dominique Schell, is a sarcoma survivor, having lived with the repercussions of the disease for 10 years. She is now spearheading her own charity initiative, Crutch4Sarcoma, to raise funding for sarcoma research and awareness of the disease and its impact on young lives in particular. Similarly, after a battle with breast cancer, my aunt is living a happy and healthy life. 

Funding research into cancer is so, so important. Without it, friends like Dominique or relatives like my aunt wouldn't be here today. This is why I am running a marathon, to raise money for this incredible cause. I'm not even sure I'll be able to run a marathon, so please donate anything you can to try and motivate me to finish!! Even just a tiny bit will fund life-saving research.
