The Langalanga Scholarship Fund supports the education of bright but very needy young people from the impoverished area of the Rift Valley around the town of Gilgil in Kenya. It provides the hope that poverty can be alleviated through education and the greatly increased chance of finding good employment.

Story

I am going to do a triathlon consisting of a 5km run, 500m swim and a 10km bike ride to raise money for the Langalanga Scholarship Fund which is a charity that sends Kenyan children to school who would not have the chance to get an education without the funding. I am specifically raising money for a girl called Ruth Kariuki Wanjiru. Ruth is 17 and her dream is to be a doctor.

I want to help Ruth with her dream because in 2010 my friend Eleanor Clarke was killed in a tragic accident. Her family have chosen to support Ruth in memory of Eleanor to give another bright and ambitious girl a chance to pursue her dreams. Without sponsorship, Ruth could not go to school at all let alone University. I know Eleanor believed that all girls should be able to go to school and this is why I am going to do the triathlon.
