Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I appreciate that there are many calls on your attention and money but please take a few minutes to read my story. 

The Fed is a wonderful social services charity based in Manchester. It provides support and advice in the community and at Heathlands Village, the care it provides includes residential, nursing, dementia and end of life care. It is a charity very close to my heart. 

I currently have family living at Heathlands. Both my grandmothers and my grandfather lived there (for nearly 10 years between them) and were cared for by the excellent team during that time and towards the end of their lives. My family has supported and volunteered with the Fed for many years and now it's my turn to give something back. 

You will have no doubt read about the crisis in social care funding. The Fed and Heathlands is on the front line in dealing with that crisis, meaning that it has to rely more and more on charitable donations. Currently it needs to raise just under £5,000 a day to maintain the support it provides to the most vulnerable members of the community. 

Whilst I have done the odd hike over the years, 100km over 4 days in the intense heat, while camping overnight will be a new challenge for me but one which I am relishing, as an opportunity to help me raise funds for a fantastic organisation. I won't be doing it on my own - we are group (currently) of 15 enthusiastic women in their 20's to their 70's and we will all be supporting each other. However, I will also need your support. 

I am paying for all of the costs of the trip myself which means that save for the very small admin costs on this site, your donations will go directly towards helping the Fed continue its incredible work.
