Story

My lovely mum Jaqueline Jeffery was 58 when she died of Motor Neurone Disease. It was tragic, awful and something I will never forget.

I don't think I will ever really get over seeing my mum pass away from MND.  Its cruel and horrifying, watching her, such an active, fit and healthy Nurse become so unwell was heartbreaking.

Fast forward 14 years, and I'm finally starting to get fitter and healthier After all who isn't doing more exercise in lockdown? .... or at-least walking a little. I've found walking to the best exercise for me, especially when things have been tough.

So recently, when I saw Rob Burrows (an English Rugby League Player) on television talking about living with MND. I wanted to do something. He is receiving  support by the West Yorkshire MND Branch (who supported our family too).  I was moved to tears following Kevin Sinfield's "running seven marathons in seven days"   and this inspired me, and gave me the push to do something positive.

Please sponsor me if you can, on Saturday the 8th of May. I will walk a Marathon distance,42.195 Kilometers. From Monthey to Vevey.

You might think walking a marathon isn't much, most people run it..... Believe me, I am putting my heart, soul and feet into completing this.

Finding a cure for MND means the world to me, and supporting those who are diagnosed with it, and their families come to terms with this disease is vital.

With all my love and best wishes

Elizabeth

P.S
Because of covid times there is no official event. So I will be walking from Monthey to Vevey (with covid measures if needed). It will be recorded and live tracked on Strava (Elizabeth B.)

I would love you to get involved with the walk, so if you fancy joining me for some of it, or fundraising let me know. I will also be updating my instagram @Elizabethbythelake as the day goes on.
