Elizabeth's Graduate Charity Challenge · 23 April 2013

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

The Graduate Charity Challenge is an initiative for all of the graduates at Lloyds Banking Group to raise over £1,000,000 between us - no mean feat!

Our team in the South-West has already raised over £2000 for the Alzheimer's Society's 'Live Well' campaign but there is still a long way to go. By holding Krispy Kreme sales, bake sales, getting involved in a group-wide auction and taking part in our own personal challenges we hope to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Recently, our team completed a climb of the distance of Mount Kilimanjaro on a climbing will at the Quay Climbing centre in Exeter - all 5895m of it! It meant climbing an 8m wall 737 times between 8 of us which we achieved in less than 5 hours. After much pain and toil we finished, raising over £1000 from sponsorship for the event.

Personally I am taking part in a 10 mile run near my home town in Sussex on the 5th May. I have been training hard and hopefully I can finish in a good time. While also taking part in our team events, having a personal event has made me all the more passionate about The Alzheimer's Society.

A relative of mine, Bob Hoadley, suffers from dementia and his wife Diane can no longer care for him - the Live Well Campaign is to support people like Diane and give them the comfort that people like Bob are well looked after.

Any donation is so greatly appreciated, together we can raise awareness and help those suffering from dementia.

Thank you very much :)
