Chester Half Marathon · 21 May 2023 ·

Farndon Community Club is managed by Farndon Community Trust, a registered charity. It is the aim of the Trust to make the Club available for sporting and social activities for Farndon and surrounding areas. We are currently fundraising to replace the roof on the Main Hall.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have proudly volunteered  for the club and community for just over 8 years. I have volunteered alongside some of the most selfless, dedicated and funny people in the other volunteers and trustees. Heroes in our community - all of them.

Just as everything was coming together and we would have been able to run the club to capacity we have had to shut the main room to any activity due to a significant fault with the roof.. We need £85k-£100k for repairs- so a massive undertaking. An enormous blow.

I have decided to run my first Essar Chester Half Marathon, ( as part of the triple, 10k ✔️ ,Half and my first ever marathon.) on Sunday 21 May for the Raise the Roof campaign. It’s my way of promoting the cause and doing my bit.

So, lovely people, I’ll do the running - it won’t be fast or glamorous- but I am stubborn and determined, if you would please sponsor me? I am not a natural runner but I believe in all the work we have done at the club and its importance to our village and the larger community ,so I will give it my best!

Many of you will have witnessed our volunteering in several diverse guises-for my sins I’ve dressed as a witch for Haloween parties, a 70’s girl for the Abba night , in a rainbow wig for the wig party, collected and washed glasses, poured pints , gin , mulled wine and endless Prosecco, made lots of pizzas and bacon sandwiches, hung metres of bunting, wiped tables, monitored bouncy castles in the sun and rain, stood on car boot car parks at 6:30am in all weather to name a few , and as you know have run the Greg Davenport Annual quiz for 7 years with my friend Jo, whilst supporting my wonderful husband and the MUGA group through the development and realisation of that amazing  community project. If you have ever been to the club , and benefitted from the work of our volunteers, please spend a £ or two so we can continue to work for you all in our community. Everything we do is for you and every step of my 13.1 miles is for our community.

Thank you
