Although 4 million people in the UK (6% of population) suffer from autoimmune disorders there is very little in the way of collective research into the cause of autoimmune disease. Autoimmune diseases are often viewed as stand-alone conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis. Between us, Lee and I have 6 autoimmune disorders; yes, you get one chances are you get another! They're also more predominant in women of child-bearing age.

We need to bring together the individual research that's being carried out into the diseases in order to gain a better understanding and hopefully a cure.
