I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 and running for a cause close to my heart – research into a rare form of bone cancer, Adamantinoma.

My namesake Liz Clarke-Saul was 31 when she died from her cancer in July 2020. She was kind, bright, funny – and fit, Liz was a paracyclist who had represented Team GB on two wheels and if you have a moment do please read her

Because of the rarity of Adamantinoma, when Liz was diagnosed there was very little information available. In her own words “It
was clear what needed to happen: with no research taking place there is no possibility of new treatments coming through. Rare diseases receive very little funding and if no one else was going to enable the research to happen then I needed to do it myself.”  Since then Liz’s Fund has kickstarted the UK’s first dedicated adamantinoma research programme, which has yielded promising results, and the next stage of research is in the pipeline. 

Bone cancer receives no regular funding from government, but the amazing Bone Cancer Research Trust is committed to supporting research into this very rare form of the disease, and every pound raised will help to make a difference to adamantinoma patients in the future.
