Story

St John's Hospice has a very special place in our hearts ever since my dad was a patient there in 2013. His time in the hospice was brightened thanks to the wonderful care he received and the peace and tranquillity of the gardens. It was Springtime and Dad loved to sit in the garden where he could listen to the bird song, see the daffodils begin to bloom and the buds appear on the trees. His favourite time of the year.

Completing the  London to Paris Cycle with Emily is in memory of Dad and our own personal challenge for 2022! It's a 4 day event in which we will be cycling a total of 300 miles.

So with brakes oiled and our training schedules planned, we're out in the Dales trying to build up our cycling legs and the ability to stay on the saddle for longer than an hour.  Fortunately, we're surrounded by fabulous countryside which - although hilly - makes cycling here a joy!

If you're out and about you might spot us cycling...I'm the one with the red face and always out of breath while Em’s the one leaving me trailing behind. I'm hopeful though that with a bit of practice we will both be ready to take on the adventure across the channel on the 14th September.  Your donations, however big or small will certainly help to spur us on.

The Hospice relies on donations in order to keep providing  its outstanding palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses across North Lancashire, South Lakes and North Yorkshire. It costs a staggering £9,000 per day to provide this care and has to find £6000 of this through fundraising.

Please support us in our challenge to help the hospice, it needs every penny we can raise.
