I recently returned from Nepal where I was volunteering for a charity called the Mountain Trust. It's a small charity that has a significant, tangible impact on the most deprived people of Nepal through innovative solutions for educational, health and human-rights related problems. For example, the Trust provides free health camps in remote areas with a Land Rover ambulance, sponsors individual students from primary school to university and has a radio programme informing millions about their rights and responsibilities within a democratic state.

Throughout my time in Nepal, I was working on the flagship educational programme called Radio Guru. It broadcasts radio shows to students across Nepal to help them pass the formidable GCSE-equivalent exams, known in the country as the 'Iron Gate' to higher education. The programme has proved very successful in improving pass rates and thus the future prospects of Nepalese students, especially those in earthquake-stricken and deprived areas with poor teaching resources and no access to internet. 

Just a small contribution would ensure that the programmes mentioned can continue to operate, and perhaps expand, to the benefit of individuals and the country of Nepal as a whole.
