Ella's song a day for May

a song a day for May · 1 May 2020
My name is Ella, I am 10 years old. At the moment, we are all in lockdown and I am missing lots of my friends and family. I can't go to school, my parents are stressed and we are only allowed out of our house to exercise and buy essential items.
Me and my mum saw that someone suggested playing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' on Thursday evenings for the NHS claps and we've been doing this every week along with my brothers. Our neighbours enjoyed it lots so we have played more pieces as the weeks have gone by. We videoed ourselves and shared it with family as we wanted them to know that we miss them lots. I play the Violin, Harp and Piano and when I play my music, it fills me with joy.
I know about Demelza from my Nan who volunteers there every week, she said that because of the pandemic they are not able to raise money as much as they normally do. This is very sad because there are lots of children who need Demelza and they need more money to keep helping everyone.
Because music is a way for me to connect and make people happy, I wanted to do something to help raise money for Demelza using music. I have decided to play one song every single day during May. My mum is going to video me and share my playing and I hope some people will sponsor me if this makes you happy.

www.demelza.org.uk has information on all the important things that they need to raise money for. I would like to be able to raise money for some children to have Music therapy and also Art therapy because I love Art.
