London Virtual Marathon · 3 October 2021

Help support our 'By Your Side Appeal' to enhance the new family accommodation for the children's wards at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Story

As an employee of Hull University NHS Trusts I am proud to support WISHH by running the London virtual marathon today.

I chose a rather hilly 26.2 mile route from my home village and run a circular loop around the Yorkshire Wolds. Friends and family cheered me on, and cycled along with me on various sections. I am a keen runner, but haven't run this distance for many months, so the last few miles were a little challenging!

I hope my efforts encourage friends and family to support WISHH and their by Your Side Appeal.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

====================================================

As part of the new WISHH By Your Side Appeal, I'm raising money for Hull Hospitals to help enhance new accommodation for parents and carers of the areas sickest children at Hull Royal Infirmary, enabling them to be by the side of their child whilst receiving care at the hospital.Each year, Hull University Teaching Hospitals provides care for approximately 49,000 babies, children and young people with a variety of health problems, conditions, and other childhood illnesses. They range from those who are critically ill and who stay in the High Dependency Unit for care with cancer, complex needs or other significant disabilities, as well as premature babies cared for within the Neonatal Unit. By supporting my fundraising you are helping make a massive difference to the families of babies and children cared for enabling parents and carers to get a proper rest and a break in tranquil and comfortable surroundings yet still be close to their child.
