Story

On the 29th of September I will be running the BERLIN MARATHON!! To raise money for St Barnabas in memory of my mum and dad, Jeannette and Ralph Goodwin. As many of you will know St Barnabas is a charity very close to my heart. Raising money for St Barnabas is my way of giving back to this INCREDIBLE charity that were there for me and my family when we needed them the most.

In 2019 my dad was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer and then shortly after In 2021 my mum was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer. Although this is not something I ever thought I would be dealing with it is not something I was dealing with alone. St Barnabas have been a vital support to me and my family throughout these devastating times.

We sadly lost my mum in October 2021 and shortly after my dad in July 2022. My mum spent her final days at St Barnabas hospice as an inpatient and my dad was cared for by me and my twin sister Laura with the help of the nurses and doctors at St Barnabas and spent his final days at home. The end of life support, care and knowledge the doctors, nurses and occupational therapists were able to provide was invaluable. I will forever be thankful for the support they have given me and continue to give myself, and other family’s right now.

I am running Berlin marathon for everyone at St Barnabas that makes a difference every day. And for all those people like us, that need a little extra support.
