Story
Basically, I’m walking continuously for 100km in August. (Yeah I know, what the hell?!)
For those of you that probably already know, I’ve had a rough couple of years. I have and continue to battle hard with my mental health. It’s a constant fight and I, at times feel completely fed up. It’s been a close call at times. But, here I stand, putting one foot in front of the other, consistently. That’s what I have decided to do... and so I want to do it properly, but not metaphorically this time.
So, I’m going to push myself... put one foot in front of the other, and walk 100km from Eastbourne to Arundel, in (hopefully under) 30 hours. I’m going to be powered by the life savers at the Samaritans. And hopefully raise some money for them along the way.
I have always been really passionate about the work that the Samaritans do and have raised money for them in the past. However, this time it’s personal. Things hit an all time low last year for me and I, unfortunately had to call on the Samaritans on a particularly hard night. The soft anonymous and female voice spoke to me... spoke to me for 13 minutes, and to all sense and purposes, saved my life. I owe her.
I’m doing this, mostly, for you, anonymous female voice, you saved my life. If you ever read this, thank you.
I’m also walking for all of you who continue to battle hard, tread water and manage to get through your day. For those of you suffering in quietly or in silence. We are all in this together, but trust me when I say, you will be the ones who will get me through this, as you always are. And if you are struggling, please know that the Samaritans are the ones at the end of the line, more often than not - stopping people from falling off the edge. They can help you.
Please do consider donating, encouraging and being with me through this challenge. The cause is just so bloody close to my heart. And having your support would mean more than you will ever know.
X
