Story

I want to raise much needed funds for: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital areas;

  • RMCH Youth Forum,
  • RMCH High Dependency
  • RMCH Ward 84 (A specialised oncology and haematology inpatient unit)
  • RMCH Ward 85 (Specialising in respiratory, CF, cardiac, metabolic, endocrine, rheumatology and immunology).

My aim is to use this money to help young patients have as comfortable a stay as possible. Often when undergoing gruelling treatments and are very very unwell young people.

In April 2019 I was diagnosed with a knee condition known as Patellofemoral Dysfunction. This condition is due to growth and at times can be very painful, meaning I struggle to walk. As I'm unable to run or do any strenuous activity putting strain on my knees, I have chosen to do a sail challenge.

I have been treated at RMCH for many different things, one incident involved plastic and micro surgery. My fingers had been trapped in a heavy oak wooden door, my nerves had been severed and I had lost my nails. I was told by the surgeon that operated on me that my nails may not grow back as the nail bed had been so badly damaged. Due to the amazing work of the nurses and surgeons at RMCH, my fingers work as normal and I also still have my nails! For my many incidents and A + E visits, I am grateful to the RMCH for their outstanding work, incredibly caring and friendly staff, what a fantastic hospital!

As I am a member, I am also donating to the RMCH Youth Forum. The RMCH Youth Forum is a group of young people whose aim is to improve children's experience of hospital and develop services that work for them. We are a voice for the young patients, so they have a say in any improvements the hospital makes.

The event will be at Redesmere Sailing Club, Siddington, Nr Macclesfield, Cheshire. We are inviting supporters as our guests on this fun day, drinks and cakes will be available at the clubhouse from 9am - 7pm! I hope to raise as much money as possible for RMCH charity, every little helps! Thank you in advance for your support!

Special thanks to my sponsors RS Sailing for their generosity and support in providing boats and kit for the event.  https://www.rssailing.com/
