Story

Hi, I’m Ellie-Mae.

I'm a student children's nurse, volunteer for St John Ambulance and a member of Lions Clubs.

One thing I am certainly not, is a runner. But … I signed up to run Brighton Half Marathon 2024 to raise money for Lions Brain Tumour Research.

“You’re crazy!” Yep - I am feeling the exact same.

However, In the UK, around 16,000 people each year receive the heartbreaking news that they have a brain tumour, and brain tumours are the leading cause of death in people under the age of 40.

As a student children's nurse it breaks my heart when any child has a sudden unexpected diagnosis, and when I found out that brain tumours are one of the biggest killers in children, I wanted to do something to help.

When a person is diagnosed and going through treatment, it is humbling to see how much their life changes. In this day and age with all our of our technology, we haven’t yet found a cure.

Brain Tumour Research is trying to find a cure.

So, on February 25th 2024, I am lacing up and heading to Brighton to raise money to support finding a cure.

If you can donate, that would be amazing.

If you have any tips, I would appreciate them greatly

If you have any words of motivation, I need them!
