Story
In April 2022, I am (finally) running the Brighton Marathon! It’s been a long time coming, I first entered in 2020 but due to COVID and injury, 2022 is my year. I am delighted to be running and raising funds for Chailey Heritage Foundation, a pioneering charity dedicated to enriching the lives of young people with complex physical disabilities and health needs.
When I worked as a support worker, I supported a couple of ladies to Chailey Leisure and Skills Centre, where they were able to develop living, independence and social skills and participate in activities that they thoroughly enjoyed. As well as a day community service for adults, CHF also provide education services for children, residential care, and transition services for young people venturing into adulthood. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to raise funds for them to continue providing the education and care services to children, young people and adults with neurodisabilities, as it makes such a huge, positive difference to so many aspects of their lives.
CHF’s vision is simple and clear: Every young person will be given every opportunity to make progress towards fulfilment. Your donation allows them to buy the highly specialist equipment these young people need to pursue their potential and access every possible opportunity for independence.
Any donations will help to go towards the following:
£5 buys a sensory toy to help young people with visual, hearing or other impairments.
£15 could buy a birthday present for a young person who lives with Chailey.
£40 could pay for a music therapy session for young people with little or no speech.
£70 could fund a wheelchair football for participation in after-school wheelchair football sessions.
£100 could fund games and art activity materials for school holiday clubs.
£140 could fund a switch activated device for table cricket and other inclusive sports, to enjoy the benefits of participating in team games.
£400 could fund an Aquamovers+ session for pre-school children, giving them the chance to participate in physical activity with support from our therapists. It also allows social interaction for isolated parents in similar circumstances.
£1500 could fund a walker, for exercise out of a wheelchair.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read, and I appreciate every single donation for such an amazing cause! 💜💜💜
