Bupa Great North Run 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·

The Jon Egging Trust supports vulnerable and under-confident young people who are struggling to engage at school. They work with students for up to three years, supporting them to build aspiration and self-belief, and to reengage with learning and maximise their potential.

Story

1 week to go... I am hoping to run the race in 2hrs; but having never run in a race before I'm not sure how the amount of people, water stops, etc will affect my time... I guess finishing would be good! Completing with a time faster than one of the ex-red arrows and fast jet pilots I am running with, most probably an impossibility. It'll be 'see you at the finish line Ellie'. Whatever our times, we are all doing this for a great charity, doing fantastic work with young people experiencing barriers and challenges to being the best they can be.

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me or team JET. And those who have promised to... please do, however little or much you can; it is really really appreciated.

now only 11 days to go... have been hill training in wet and windy wales... thanks to my wonderful mother in law I have now doubled the amount raised to 6% of target.

so 4 weeks to go to the great north run. thank you to both people who have sponsored me... 3% of target funds raised... so if would like to sponsor me please do. the Jon egging trust does fantastic work with young people. xxx

training is going well but fundraising not good... please help x

I joined The Jon Egging Trust in May 2014 as The Blue Skies Manager and am extremely proud of being part of the Trust and managing the Blue Skies programme. Having worked with young people for over 20 years this is one of very few programmes that only concentrates and invests in young people's potential and not their problems.

The Blue Skies programme uses inspirational people and experiences, and focuses on teamwork and leadership skills to enable, empower and model adults and young people being the best they can be. Young people are transformed through an increase in confidence, self-esteem, communication skills, teamwork and leadership.

Having only started running in February 2014, after losing 3.5 stone in weight, I am feeling both excited and scared about the run.... specially the hills I have heard so much about. So I am amazingly grateful and encouraged that you are sponsoring me. Many, many thanks.

I would love at least 200 people to sponsor me £5, so if you feel you could do this, that would be great.
