We provide free end-of-life care to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

In September I will be putting a big, fat tick next to 'do a charity skydive' on my bucket list and I could not imagine a better charity to support.

It is charities like Weston Hospicecare who have provided incredible support to my immediate and extended family over the past couple of years.

Towards the end of last year, my grandma Irene Morris died at St Barnabas Hospice, near Worthing, after a short battle with ovarian cancer.

It was here I experience first-hand how the volunteers, nurses and doctors take such brilliant care of their patients but also the families of those staying with them.

I am doing this for my family members who have been affected by this devastating disease.

If you have even a penny to help me towards my target that would be brilliant!

Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, its team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support.

Their social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £4 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community.

Weston Hospicecare provides expert end-of-life care, free of charge, to people with life-limiting illnesses. Our goal is people can live as well as they can, for as long as they can; we help them feel like family and friends again, not just patients and carers.
