Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

Hi,

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!!

I have set this page up because I am running the London Marathon on behalf of the amazing charity, Sense, on the 22nd April 2012.

I am dedicating the next four months to strenuous training for this enormously challenging, yet exciting event ahead of me. Check out my training diary on this page to see how I’m doing!

My fundraising target is £1500! So any donations you are able to make would be greatly appreciated – it’s all going to a great cause

Sense is a charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults that are deafblind. From giving on-going support to deafblind individuals, their families and carers to providing housing or Sense’s centres of excellence, their vision is of a world in which all deafblind people can be full and active members of society.

Here's how your donations will go towards making a difference to those suffering from deafblindness across the UK:

£7.50 -- Could pay for a deafblind child to experience sailing on their Sense holiday

£15 – Could pay for a tactile book to develop a child’s sense of sight and touch at a Sense family centre

£25 – Could buy an interactive light tube to help stimulate a deafblind person’s remaining sight
£50 – Could help pay for a deafblind child’s vital first assessment

£250 – Could provide a home with sensory ‘trails’ enabling the deafblind to identify specific rooms, stairs. Therefore helping them to live in a safe, secure environment

£500 – Could pay for a child to undergo a specialised educational development assessment to establish what their learning abilities are.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
