'Teach a Child - Africa' (TaC) is a voluntary charity working in Nyanza Province, Kenya, an area with a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS. We fund secondary education for orphaned children from poor families by paying school fees and providing uniforms and other essentials.

Story

Thank you for visiting our Wedding charity donations page.

Teach a Child - Africa (TAC) enables children who have been orphaned by AIDS to complete their secondary education. More than 12 million children in sub-Saharan Africa have lost one or both of their parents to AIDS. TAC currently provide bursaries to 37 children in Kenya so that they can finish school and develop the skills to fight poverty and reach their potential in life. TAC awards bursaries to children regardless of their gender, ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.

We first visited Africa as a couple in 2008 and fell in love with the continent, the scenery, the wildlife, but most of all the people. We have been back twice since, and our last visit was to Kenya. We have seen first hand the difference a secondary education can make in people's lives there. Helping children, less fortunate than ourselves to get an education seems to us to be a great and lasting way to mark our marriage.

Even a small donation will make a difference - if 10 people give £25 each that is enough to send an orphaned child to secondary school for a year.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
