Story

Hello Again,

I should start by thanking you once more for giving me the time of day and offering me your support so thank you, without your continued support, none of this would be possible, you guys make this happen and I have to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, you will never know quite what the continued support means to me, my family, Carol and her family and friends, or to HLH.

I am now looking towards my 16th and 17th Marathons and my 6th and 7th Marathons for HLH. I recently broke the £45,000.00 mark raised for charity and in doing so I broke the £10,000.00 mark raised for HLH. I have previously supported Parkinson's, Macmillan and Help The Aged.

The start of 2013 has seen me start my strict training regime up again and I am out pounding the pavements now more than ever! I shall once again be running in loving memory of Carol and for Carol's friends and family.

The challenge I am undertaking is running 2 marathons in 2 weeks, the marathons in question are The Paris Marathon on the 7th April followed by the London Marathon on the 21st April 2013.

These marathons shall once again test all of my physical resolve and my ability to rise to the challenge, two marathons in two weeks will pose a huge amount of strain on my body but I am confident of success for two reasons, one because I have your support, and two because I am running in Carol's honor which will more than spur me on in the difficult miles.

Carol, is remembered as a fantastic mum, daughter, friend and just truly wonderful person who was taken away from us way too early. Carol Goodbourn was taken ill with a disease called Hystiocytosis which affects 1 in 50,000 people. This is a very rare disease but for that one person, and their loved ones this can have devastating effects on them. Carol had the illness little over two weeks before she passed away which displays the strength and speed at which this illness strikes ones immune system.

The fact that many people are still unaware of this disease makes this even more challenging as not only am I trying to raise funds for this worthy cause, but I am also trying to raise awareness of it and what it can do to peoples lives.

I have committed to raising £3,000.00 for HLH in respect of this challenge and this is a commitment that I will honour and strive to achieve, it will take a lot of fundraising to achieve so please try and help me in any way you can, even if its word of mouth about what I am doing for HLH, together we can, and we will make a difference.

Carol always displayed a superb attitude towards life and no matter what cards she was dealt she would always take them wearing her beautiful smile and would always strive to make others happy and be as strong as she possibly could be for all those around her. I am looking to her as inspiration and hope that in doing so I can take just a tiny portion of her determination, strength and positive attitude and transfer that into my training and then I can say that Carol and I conquered these marathons together as we have done previously.

Running for Carol and for HLH makes this an even more special occasion for me and I feel very proud to be able to support Carol in the next few months and I hope that in turn you maybe able to support me and ultimately support a cause that genuinely relies on peoples generosity to survive.

I have to finish by once again thanking you for taking the time to visit my justgiving page and by ensuring you that all donations, regardless of their amount are massively appreciated by not only myself but also by everyone connected with HLH.

This is a challenge that shall test all of my physical resolve and ability but I genuinely feel that all the pain and aches will be worth it once I have crossed the finish lines in both Paris and two weeks later in London and can say that I raised thousands more for HLH, please make the pains and the aches worth it for me, Carol and HLH.

Thanks for your time and thank you Carol for brightening everyone’s life that you came across, gone but not forgotten.

Joe Elliott

xXx
