2 Elliott’s, 3 countries, 4 days! Here we go again...
Dad and I will be cycling 430km from London via Amsterdam to Brussels in September 2022, raising funds for the Light Project Peterborough.
For the last five years’ core homelessness has been rising year on year in England, reaching a peak just before the pandemic. According to Crisis by the end of 2021 approximately 227,000 households across the Britain were experiencing the worse forms of homelessness, and with the cost of living increasing there are fears this will only continue to climb.
The Light Project Peterborough has been active in providing accommodation and support to those in need across the city since 2015. They are the voice of the vulnerable and run a range of coordinated projects that help and support people. Working alongside church communities, civic powers, and community groups to bring about real social change and striving to help those in need.
The projects Garden House offers information, advice and support to the rough sleepers in Peterborough 6 days a week. Guests can receive much-needed support from housing officers, GPs, drug and alcohol specialists, chiropodist, hairdressers and other professionals alongside getting that helping hand they need back into society.
The amazing work the Light Project team do just wouldn’t be possible without the support and fundraising of those fully engaged with their mission. Whilst there are a few paid staff required to function, the project is mainly run by volunteers who are kind enough to donate their time. Alongside our fundraising we are volunteering at the centre helping in any way we can. From the time we have spent there to date the team are so passionate, committed and welcoming that you feel part of an extended family.
Please dig deep, think of amount of pedaling and sponsor us in this mad challenge! There are so many people who will be grateful
Thank You!
