We fund research into childhood cancer to save and improve young lives

Story

After 7 consecutive years of unsuccessful entries... We did it!

I will be running the London Marathon on the 26th April 2020 in memory of our beautiful angel Ellie Rose Cassidy.

Ellie suddenly became ill in December 2006 and admitted to Northampton General Hospital for tests. Ellie was tragically diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She was quickly transferred Birmingham Children’s hospital to begin treatment, finishing her last treatment on Christmas Day surrounded by her amazing family. Four days later, Ellie suffered a reaction and was taken into intensive care after suffering severe stomach pains.

After more than three weeks in the intensive care unit and another operation, Dermot and Hayley (Ellie’s parents) were given the worst possible news. She would never recover and were advised to switch off her life support machine.

Ellie tragically passed away on the 23rd January 2007 aged 11.

Ellie was the most fun loving, kind hearted, beautiful person that anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her would be proud of. I am so proud to have grown up with you and able to call you my friend.

As many of you may know, I am not a natural runner nor athletic so this will be the biggest mental and physical challenge of my life. Since turning 18, I have entered the London Marathon to run in Memory of our beautiful angel Ellie Rose Cassidy. Over the years, many of Ellie’s family and friends have ran the London Marathon under the umbrella ‘Team Cassidy’. I am so honoured to be able to be able to be apart of this.

I know that the whole journey will be so emotional but you’ll be right there with me my angel, I love you always and forever.

If you could please donate however small to this incredible charity, we would be so unbelievably grateful.
