Story
The Team
The cycling team is made up of Paul Forsyth (Ellisons Solicitors), Malcolm Durbridge (Hatfields), Magnus Baird (LB Group Ltd), Lee De'ath (Begbies Traynor) and Martin Claydon (James & Lindsay), with the support and assistance of Shaun Mills (Handelsbanken) and Michael Brock (DCH Construction), are taking on the ultimate cycling challenge this summer. Each riders' company will be sponsoring the event.
The Cause
Many of the group first met Stuart Bennett at the Colchester Business Lunch Club in the mid 2000's and their professional and personal friendships grew from there. Some of them had the pleasure of knowing him from a far earlier time through his involvement with local sports clubs. Stuart was an incredibly well liked and respected figure within the local business community and over the years helped out many people whilst working as a Partner in a local accountancy firm.
Stuart Bennett was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukaemia in 2014 at the age of 45, during which time he was faced with many treatments and underwent two bone marrow transplants. Stuart sadly lost his battle with Leukaemia in January 2019. As a group of friends, they are now looking to raise as much money as possible for Blood Cancer UK in his memory.
The Challenge
The group will be cycling across 4 countries in 4 days. The ride will begin early on 14th June in Colchester down to Dover, through France, Belgium, and Netherlands before arriving back in Harwich 4 days later.

Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
Stuart Bennett
"Our memories of Stuart are of him being incredibly sociable, thoughtful and a great friend who was always cheerful and positive even whilst undergoing painful treatment. Professionally he was very knowledgeable and was always willing to go the extra mile for clients, colleagues and alike. This proved to be the basis of a longstanding friendship with many happy memories made along the way. He is sadly missed."
