Story

The Harrow family is fundraising to help young people who face unprecedented levels of hardship which has been exacerbated the pandemic. As in previous years, all funds raised will go directly to supporting the most vulnerable members of our community through programmes implemented by carefully vetted local charities.

The main charity recipient this year will again be Young Harrow Foundation receiving 50% of funds raised this year. YHF is brilliantly placed to target the money raised to where it is most needed. Last year's fundraising enabled YHF to implement a robust programme to help young people who faced the greatest challenges and significantly improved the life chances of some of our most marginalised and vulnerable young people. Long Ducker raised and disbursed nearly £250,000 to support of over 1,500 young people across Harrow and NW London.

25% of funds will go to The Harrow Club who work with some of the most marginalised young people in West London providing opportunities for them to maximise their life chances and enhance their personal development.

The final quarter will be given to Cancer Research UK, a cancer charity chosen by the Williams family in memory of George. As the world's largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK conducts research and provides information about cancer, raising awareness and influencing public policy. The organisation's work is almost entirely funded by the public, over 40,000 people are regular volunteers.

Boys, family members and friends are encouraged to contribute – all the charities listed above are counting on your support to continue to support young people who are facing the most acute need. Every pound of funding raised will go directly to the named charities and make an enormous difference to the lives of thousands of young people.

The contribution through the Long Ducker has been extraordinary and has helped us both directly and indirectly to launch new initiatives such as a programme for young people with behavioural issues who would otherwise be excluded from school. Among other vital projects, we are helping young people who don’t have access to laptops at home so that they can access online schooling. We have been able to secure over 100 laptops, which we are making available to the neediest.’
