Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am Elodie-Mae Davies and I currently receiving respite care and support from Hope House. I am fundraising for them by challenging myself to complete a distance of 10 miles by walking every day between 25th January and 28th March which is the date of the Hope House Llangollen Canal Walk. This will be approximately 2,250 steps a week! I hope to finish the challenge walking over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct!

Since birth I have had a lot of illnesses and I was born with a heart condition known as Truncus Ateriosus. Along with that I also have Dextocardia and a small pumping chamber. These are heart defects and as a result I have had over 10 open heart surgeries and interventions on my heart.

When I was 3 I suffered a cardiac arrest and I have some problems remembering things. Luckily I didn’t remember this! 😊.

When I was seven I had a pacemaker fitted as I have a complete heart block. I have to have this changed more often as it is used every beat - this means more operations.

Then when I was 11 I became very ill again. I had a clot on my lung and two mini strokes affecting my vision. The doctors discovered I have pulmonary vein stenosis. I have lost my left lung and have 83% of my right one. This means I have to have oxygen 24/7 to allow me to breath, therefore walking is very difficult for me! Most recently I was admitted to hospital where they discovered I am type 1 diabetic.

I have many health conditions but I have a lot of support from my hospitals, family, friends and Hope House Hospice.

I am fundraising for Hope House as they help me and my family so much. We get to stay there as a family which is good as it gives my Mum a rest from looking after me and we get to make special memories as a family whilst the nurses are on hand. They are all so friendly and they make me feel safe and independent. It’s such a special place ❤️xx. They even help my Mum and Dad and my siblings. I am going to be taking on this challenge to raise as much money as possible for them. It’s going to be very hard but I am sure I will do it as I want to help Hope House as they help me.

Thank you.
