Story
In 6 days I will be running a half marathon "the Great North Run". As per usual I've left all the fiddlely bits to the end - that is to say the fundraising. The charity I'm fundraising for is MACMILLAN cancer support.
The story -
A good few months ago, nicely sloshed, a friend turns around to me and
asks " would you do a 1/2 marathon?" If you know me well you know
exactly what my answer would be - "Of course, sure I could run 13
miles now and still beat you!" Well, Finally I'm putting my money where
my mouth is and I'm doing the run and secretly I hope to beat her, but
we're going to "run together". ;)
Anyway, to cut a long story short - The reason for this run is to support a good friend (mentioned above) who lost a very close family member to cancer hence our decision to run for team MacMillan.
The Journey -
My training to date has been successful - I'm actually loving the runs and I intend to keep it going after the race.
In 5 days I will be making my way across the Irish Sea and heading towards Newcastle upon Tyne to finally run the Great North Run.
On Sunday the 20th September at 10 am i will be making my way to the starting point, stretching on the way of course and preparing myself for the 13.1 miles ahead of me!
So please donate to this cause and support a good friend :D
Thanks in advance,
