Story
Until a few months ago, breast cancer was something that I rarely thought about, let alone spoke about. However, following the recent diagnosis of a close family member, it has suddenly become really rather real!
Although this is not a reality anyone would hope for, the most positive experience to have come out of it so far has been the speed and care of the consultants involved.
It is only after having spoken to friends and family that I have realised just how many people are touched by cancer during their life, and just how many lives have been saved by the healthcare that we currently have available to us.
This, of course, would not be possible were it not for the research being carried out every day to improve cancer detection, prevention and support.
The more this research drives forward, the more families will be able to experience the stellar support that we are currently receiving. This is why I will be cycling 519 miles - the equivalent of cycling from Paris to Milan - over 3 weeks of my Easter vacation: to help fund this drive.
I've been dreaming of warmer climates since March 2020, and whilst I'm not sure that the rolling flats of Essex will be quite the same as the vistas of France, Switzerland or Italy, maybe once the borders reopen I'll do it again, in full HD.
My fundraising target is £519 - a pound for every mile I cycle. But, of course, all donations made regardless of their size will help to work towards an end goal that is far greater than my 519th mile!
Thank you so much,
