Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know, I was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis in 2012 which is a very rare auto immune neurological disorder. Thanks to a fabulous team at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh I was diagnosed and treated very quickly which often isn't the case.
Unsurprisingly, there were some real lows along the way and it being such a rare condition, I didn't know any other sufferers. I then discovered the TM Society which offers support to members and provided me with lots of help and information which no-one else could. TM manifests itself differently in every person and so the recovery path is different for everyone. The TM Society put me in contact with a few others living in Edinburgh with the condition and 4 years on 4 of us still meet up very regularly!
While I've been lucky to make a good recovery, I have had to make a number of lifestyle changes and the condition has left irreparable nerve damage. However, more recently, I have been able to exercise regularly without having any flare ups. Consequently, I'm very excited about being able to do this run.
Anything you can give is much appreciated. I'm hoping to raise some money for the TM Society and raise some awareness of the condition which until 2012 I had never heard of.
Thanks for taking the time to read this - and here's hoping for a calm, sunny day!
