We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I am running the GNR for Great Ormond Street Hospital.  GOSH treats thousands of children each year, some of whom are suffering from the rarest and most complex conditions.  Back in 2001 my son, Thomas, was one of GOSH's patients. Thankfully he spent only a short time there, having a hole in his heart repaired, but many of the children on his ward were there for far longer and with very serious conditions.  Thomas is now a healthy and energetic 11 year old - running for GOSH is my way of saying thank you.

As you may know, Great Ormond Street has a long standing connection with Peter Pan so I decided that I would run the Great North Run dressed as Tinkerbell.  Unfortunately, as you can see, I had a little trouble finding a suitable costume so whilst I realise a pink fluorescent fairy isn't quite what JM Barrie had in mind, I hope you will still feel inclined to support me as I take to the streets of Newcastle dressed as I am in this photo.  I fully intend to carry the wand for the full 13.1 miles!
