Story

Hello everyone,

today I ran 30 miles to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.  I had amazing support from the crew so thank you very much to medics Ben, Sophie and Dan also to Dr Reuben and not forgetting my wife Emma and son Elvis jnr. However the biggest thank you is to everyone that has donated, the whole point of the challenge was to ask you all for money and you did not disappoint. Thank you everyone.

I am not pretending to be 30 again however Wiltshire Air Ambulance is.
This year Wiltshire Air Ambulance celebrates its 30th anniversary and I have committed to running 30 miles as part of those celebrations.
On the 30th of May, due to current restrictions, I am planning to run laps around our base. This will be part of the Charity's '30 for 30' challenge so why not get involved. My little boy, Elvis, is running a mile every day for 30 days. You could do something to and it would be great if you could pledge, sponsor or donate to our charity or another charity close to your heart.

This is not something that I have undertaken lightly, as you would know if you have ever seen my skinny legs. I have never run anywhere near this distance before but I have started training already. I hope to be joined by other members of the ops and charity teams during the day in order to keep me going.

My declaration of interest, I have worked for the charity since September 2018 and although this feels a bit like asking you to pay my wages I hope it does not come across as that. I have seen at first hand how important our service is to people all over the south west of England and all donations help the charity to continue with that work. Whilst we are dispatched and operate throughout the south west we are restricted to fundraising within our county. Our county is one of the smallest in England by population and as such all donations are critical to operations. Our official blurb reads like this 'Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a charity that provides an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) across Wiltshire and surrounding counties. It needs to raise £3.75m a year to continue saving lives, but is not directly funded by the Government and receives no National Lottery funding, so relies on generous public donations.'

I am hoping to get people to sponsor me as much as they think is appropriate but because I love numbers how about trying to get £30 from 100 people. With that in mind I am turning 50 this year and the run is roughly 50 kms so if you prefer giving £50 that would be great.
