Story
On the 10 April 2013 my wife, Miche, suddenly and tragically passed away.We have three beautiful children Herbie 13, Pebbles 12 and Gabriel 4.
I was put in contact with SURF ACTION in May 2012. I had previously been diagnosed with PTSD in January 2011.
SURF ACTION provided, and continues to do so, MASSIVE support for us as a family in both practical and emotional terms. Aswell as those of us that use the services provided, there is an ongoing families programme that helps to support families and keep them together or to keep strong bonds between parent and child.
I have no doubt that SURF ACTION saved our realtionship. Despite making the very difficult decision not to live together we were still married and one day there was always the hope that when i had reached a point in my life where there was some stability we would pick things up where we left off. By not living with me, Miche was able to provide stability for the children and i could 'come and go' from the family home as and when the big angry monster that is PTSD directed me. This was one huge decision that wasnt taken lightly that placed a massive amount of pressure on Miche but she was prepared to do that for me, and us as a family.
SURF ACTION helps to keep me grounded and has the added benefit of being able to mix with chaps/chapess' that have walked in my shoes so 'get what its all about'. The peace, calm and support it brings me helped me to manage my life better and enabled me to spend more time with my wife and children.
Not only would i ask you to donate to this great charity i would ask you to continue to support and follow it via facebook and their website.
Thankyou for your contribution and taking the time to read this.
Much love
Mike, Miche, Herbie, Pebbles and Gabriel
