Story
As lockdown continues, the devastating impacts on families and individuals seeking asylum, refugees, and migrants in vulnerable situations are exacerbated. Will you step up with us?
Embers Basketball are participating in 'Walk It Out' - a challenge to get moving during the month of September in healthy competition against on another and to raise funds for the good works of Jesuit Refugee Services Australia, especially for those left behind in the COVID-19 crisis.
In this crisis, JRS Australia is safely serving people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants in vulnerable situations. These people have been left without any federal government support like JobKeeper and JobSeeker and depend on charities, like JRS Australia, to survive. They provide food and other critical needs such as urgent medicines and emergency relief payments to these people and their families in Sydney.
In the absence of any federal government support to the people we serve, the Australian community is stepping in to help JRS provide urgent needs. Each week, the JRS Refugee Foodbank feeds over 900 children, women and men per week.
