Emerald Street Christmas Charity Campaign 2013 · 25 November 2013

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

This Christmas, daily email Emerald Street is teaming up with the national domestic violence charity Refuge to raise vital funds for services supporting women and children.

Refuge is the country’s largest provider of specialist domestic violence services, supporting 3,000 women and children on any given day. They provide emergency refuge accommodation, community-based services and independent legal advocacy for women and children escaping domestic violence.  In addition to these life-saving and life-changing services, Refuge also runs award winning campaigns to raise public awareness of the issue, as well as lobbying the Government to ensure that legislation meets the needs of women and children experiencing domestic violence.

Refuge urgently needs your support.  Ongoing cuts to local funding are putting many of our vital services at risk. All of the money raised by the Emerald Street Christmas Campaign will go towards keeping our services open into the New Year and beyond.
