Earthquake Emergency · 7 February 2023

Salam Charity was founded in 2011 with the aim to help fight poverty and transform lives. Every night over 800 million people go hungry and nearly 6 million children die each year from preventable diseases. Salam Charity aims to tackle this by providing lifesaving meals, clean water, sanitation, clothing and education. This will allow everyone to realise their birthright of living a happy life by developing their full potential. Salam Charity works in many countries around the world with a particular emphasis on the Rohingya emergency crisis. Salam Charity has a five year strategic plan which will focus on bringing a positive and lasting change in the lives of those affected by poverty. Our aim is to empower people for them to be in charge of their own destinies. We endeavour to support households, local communities and national institutions to develop longer term collective approaches to reinforce their capacities to better respond to, mitigate and prevent humanitarian emergencies and hunger crises. Supported by global celebrities, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and social media influencers, We have one important mission: to save and change lives for the better. We will do what it takes to bring humanity closer to a world free from hunger and poverty.

Story

🚨*EMERGENCY APPEAL: EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE*

*EMERGENCY RESPONSE KITS! £50 EACH* 📦

A deadly 7.4 magnitude earthquake has struck and hit Turkey and Syria which has left thousands dead or injured. However, the numbers are rising rapidly and the widespread destruction is massive.

Millions of displaced people in Syria reside in the region affected and hundreds of thousands of refugees live in this region of Turkey. It is reported that more than 1000 buildings collapsed after the earthquake. Thousands of people remain missing and trapped beneath rubble.

A resident searching in the rubble. He believes someone is alive underneath. "Speak out loud," he pleads.

"As you see, there is a dead body here. He is dead and nobody has removed him. And a woman's voice is heard from underneath."

As he speaks a woman's voice cries out from the rubble. She cries again, and then bangs on metal trying to hold the man's attention. But there is nothing he alone can do. An entire home is collapsed and it will take machinery to lift the ruins.

This is a story of unanswered cries, being repeated over and over again across this region.
