Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We lost our amazing brother in September 2009 after less than a year fighting a very bravely fought battle with cancer. Darren loved running and it was one his main passions in life. It was heartbreaking to see him lose the strength to do what he loved the most. We could not think of a better way to remember him than to run the London Marathon.
Although Darren was never treated at The Royal Marsden, we have been in touch with them about what research they are doing to stop other people suffering the way Darren did and to keep families together.
The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre, providing treatment and care for more than 40,000 cancer patients every year. It is also at the forefront of cancer research. Its work influences how all cancer patients are treated and cared for, not just in its own hospitals but all over the world.
We are not planning on breaking any records, we just want to cross the finish line (in a reasonably fit state) and raise as much money as we can. This April would have been Darren's 30th Birthday and I have no doubt if he was still here, he too would have been crossing the finish line...about 3 hours ahead of us!
