RBS Markets Operations London to Manchester Cycle Challenge · 14 August 2012

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

I signed up for this challenge knowing it was going to be hard work - I just didn't realise exactly how difficult it was going to be!

The challenge itself is taking place over 3 days and involves a cycle from London to Manchester to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of the relaunch of RBS' European Operation Centre. I am participating in Day 3 of the challenge which covers approx 70 of the total 200 mile journey.

Having not owned a bike since my teenage years my training schedule began with the all important step of purchasing a bike - over the last few weeks I have been getting out on the road to try and get used to handling the bike (as well as passing traffic and hecklers!). Now its all about trying to get some mileage in to make sure I can cope with the distance on the day (as well as the pain in my bum from the seat!).

As well as a personal challenge for me, this is also a fantastic opportunity to raise money for the Prince's Trust who so some really amazing work to support young people.
