Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 · 12 October 2025 ·

It is estimated that as many as 15million children die or remain severely ill every year through potentially treatable or preventable cardiac diseases. Chain of Hope exists to provide children from developing countries affected by life-threatening heart disease with the treatment to save their lives

Story

Hi everyone,

I’m Emil, a university student, and this October I’ll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon to support Chain of Hope.

Chain of Hope gives children access to life-saving heart surgery across Africa and the Middle East, and is currently working to support the poor children in Gaza.

I first learned about Chain of Hope while interning this summer at the Magdi Yacoub Institute at Harefield Hospital. The institute is led by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, a pioneering heart surgeon and founder of Chain of Hope, and I had the privilege of meeting him during my time there.

Inspired by their incredible work, I wanted to do my part to help. So I signed up for the Royal Parks Half to raise money for their mission.

After sharing the cause with my friends, I’m really happy they’ve decided to join me in this effort. Now we’re running together as a team, hoping to make an impact, one step at a time. ❤️
