I think a lot of people have no real understanding of what the Hospice is (or does) until they, a family member or a friend has a need to use the Hospice in the Weald in some way. Ignorance is usually bliss but the Hospice requires £7 million each year, to provide the invaluable services it does. So it needs every penny.
It doesn't just have an in-patient unit (where my Mum was) - it also offers a day unit, creative arts and counselling services, amongst others. All the staff and volunteers at the Hospice are compassionate, informative and friendly - they ensured my Mum was comfortable and treated her like the person she was, not just a patient. They provided constant support to her and our family and they made a very difficult time a lot more bearable.
So, in order to help with their fundraising, both sides of my family are strapping on our 3 T's - trainers, tutus and tena lady pads (for the inevitable laughing) and walking 8 miles around Sevenoaks, Kent.
Any money you might be able to spare, to go towards this fantastic cause, will be very greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading!
