Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·

We support the thousands of patients and families at Sheffield Children’s, from across the UK and beyond, by funding the life-changing and the joy-sparking. We make clinical care kinder, and bad days brighter. We bring play, laughter and comfort to places where they’re needed the most.

Story

This year I am running in the worlds largest half marathon event. The Great North Run!

As running 13.1 miles is no easy sted, I have decided to run for a worthwhile cause that is also close to my heart. I will be flying the flag for #teamtheo.

The Children's Hospital Charity's role is to provide over and above the standard NHS provision, enhancing Sheffield Children's Hospital and matching the world-class equipment with existing world-class expertise.

Thanks to the expertise of the doctor and nurses at Sheffield Children's Hospital my sister is alive today.

Shortly after starting school at the age of 4, Amelia became ill with what was thought to be a stomach bug, but while her class mates made a speedy recovery Amelia didn't and was admitted to Scunthorpe general hospital. It was soon realised that Amelia was very sick and needed specialist care. A transfer was made by a blue light ambulance to Sheffield Children's Hospital. Amelia then had emergency surgery that discovered a gangrene appendix. She slowly recovered and has since gone from strength to strength, becoming the person we all know and love today.

This is my opportunity to give something back. To help the hospital continue to make the children's experience less clinical and more comfortable.

Please donate as much or as little as you can. Anything donated is very much appreciated.
