Story
On the 22nd of May, I will be running the Hackney Half to support the incredible work of Ella's.
Ella's is a London-based organisation providing urgent safe house accommodation and long-term, community-based support for women who've survived trafficking and exploitation. With this help, survivors can recover from their experiences and build safe lives. Without it, many would fall back into danger. The need for the work of Ella's is urgent, vast and growing. Around the world, 40.3 million people are trapped in modern slavery. Of those people trafficked, more than 70% are women and girls.
Most of you will know that I can rarely go anywhere without talking about trafficking - and for good reason. The scale of human trafficking in/to this country is huge. Yet, the government's planned overhaul of the asylum system puts the protections available to people who have been trafficked into the UK further in jeopardy, whilst strengthening discriminatory border enforcement which serves to fuel the traffickers business model. Ella's offers vital support to women who have lived through trafficking and are negotiating this less-than-helpful aftermath.
I have been volunteering with Ella's since September 2020 and I can say with absolute certainty that their work is worth parting ways with your money. The impact they have on the women they support is truly remarkable, I feel incredibly privileged to have witnessed it first hand. To find out more about Ella's, check out their website here: https://www.ellas.org.uk/
Please donate what you can to provide crucial support for some of London's most vulnerable women. Every sponsor matters.
Thank you!
All my love xoxo
P.S. this is a live shot of Louis getting jealous of my speediness. Don't believe me? Join us in Hackney to find out!
