We support young people at risk of suicide to stay safe and find hope in times of need

Story

We are a group of NTU graduate colleagues who have decided that on the 3rd April 2020 , we will take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. The challenge involves taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough (24 miles) in under 12 hours.

The reason why we have decided to take on this challenge is to raise money for a charity called Papyrus, an organisation who are passionate about preventing suicide in young people.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK and it has affected many people we know personally. We want to raise awareness of this cause and provide support to Papyrus to continue their mission to reduce the stigma around suicide and reduce the number of people who take their lives.

Through donating to this cause, your money can help provide the following support:

- £5 can pay for one text or email conversation from a young person in need to HOPELINEUK.

- £20 enables a young person in distress to speak to a HOPELINEUK advisor and discuss their thoughts of suicide and help them to stay safe.

- £65 can keep their helpline, text and email services running for over one hour

- £165 covers the cost of training someone ASIST (A 2-day course that prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid interventions)

Any contribution, no matter how small, can help Papyrus make a big difference.
