Story

Brighton Marathon, Sunday 19th April 2020 - the first of 13 marathons I will complete in 13 months in memory of my beloved friend Heidi Simpson, who lost her life in 2016 to cancer. The last (and only) marathon I ran was in 2015, so this challenge is going to be a tough one!

During her final months, Heidi was cared for at St Peter and St James Hospice which is a truly wonderful place. Not only do they provide exceptional hospice care, but every member of staff and the volunteers look after the patient, their family and friends with such love, understanding and care that even an unbearable experience becomes bearable.

All hospice services are free of charge, but the running costs amount to £7,200 a day! Since only 14% of this comes from government funding, the hospice relies heavily on the generosity of the community. So please sponsor me for this Marathon Challenge, however big or small, so that I can help this fantastic hospice continue to provide amazing services like they did for my lovely friend Heidi and her family.

Lots of love,

Emily xxxx
